![]() ![]() ![]() Parents' Depression Inventory The Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale Everyone has times in their lives when they feel moody, unhappy, or hopeless. But these low periods are quite different from clinical depression, which is a much more serious problem that usually requires professional help to overcome. If you're clinically depressed, it can have a negative effect on everything in your life, including your relationship with your children. The purpose of this self-questionnaire is to help you determine if you might be experiencing symptoms of clinical depression. The scale has 20 questions and takes about five minutes to complete. Instructions: For each line, pick the answer that best describes how often you felt that way during the past week. With the first question, for example, if you've been bothered lately by things that don't usually bother you, and you felt this way 5 or more days last week, you would select the button in the far right column, labeled "5 to 7 days". The computer calculates your score. Click below to read an interpretation of your score.
