SUBJECT: paternity nightmare....help
When I was 19, I got pregnant. I was seeing 2 men around the same time...one was my on-again-off-again high school sweetheart and the other I met and dated briefly during one of those "off" times. I found out I was pregnant and told the 2nd guy, who was moving across the country, that I would have an abortion. I didn't want to have one so I let #1 (high school boyfriend) think the baby was his and we were married. I had the baby (a boy) and then later had a daughter with my husband. We later divorced. My son is now 16 and my daughter 14. The problem is that my son hates the man he believes is his dad. He can't give me any reason for it..only that he doesn't like him as a person, can't relate to him and has no connection with him. He doesn't like to go visit him in FL and has asked that I stop making him go.
I have recently regained contact with the man who is his biological father. He doesn't know that I had a son with him because he thinks I had an abortion.
I am very confused about what to do at this point in time. I have been living with this lie for so long. My current husband knows the truth and says he'll support whatever decision I make but I can't decide. Should I tell my son about his real father? I feel like I've deprived him of a real father but I don't want to make things worse for him. Is it better to let him continue to believe that #1 is his father and just try to work on the relationship? Or does everyone need to know the truth now?
