SUBJECT: pregnant and confused
HI. I am 33 years old. My husband is 36. I have an 8 year old son from a previous relationship. I am a school teacher and my husband is a family physicain and has recently completed a specialty in Occupational Med. Here's the problem... My husband has recently informed me that he has an opportunity to do a PHD fellowship. I have told him that I do not support this for a couple of reasons. First, it take a great deal of time to complete a PHD and he would also be working part time doing family med. I am a family based person and I don't feel like he would have enoough time to be father or husband. Secondly, the money is not close to what the two of us were making this past year(80,000) now he would make 48,000(before taxes). We lived paycheck to paycheck. I have discussed this with him and have had only negative results. He feels like I am a negative influence on his career. I have tried to be objective but it is failing. I have made myself sick by crying and getting very emotional. We have even discussed divorce. Can anyone help me?
