SUBJECT: Halloween Alternative
My family has not participated in Halloween in the past. Our church has an alternative making it much safer and not scary. We hold a harvest Fest at about the same time as Halloween. It is a very big event. We have games for the kids and they win candy as prizes. They can play as often as they want. We have a hay ride, face painting, music, free food (hot dogs, sloppy Joes, cotton candy, popcorn cookies) and hot chocolate, soda.
We giva away two kids bikes, have demonstrations, sometimes ID a kid type things. My kids love it and bring home lots of candy. They don't even have to get dressed up if they don't want to. All this is supplied by donations from the community and church members. The workers are all of us in the church. Anyone can come even if you don't go to church. At the end before we close we have a message for those who don't know Christ. Every year more and more people come with thier kids.
So if you belong to a church, this may be a good idea if its not already being done! If you don't brlong to a church you may find one who does this instead of Halloween!
